Victim Services of Windsor and Essex County
Victim Services of Windsor and Essex County is a non-profit charitable organization (#892738188) designed to assist the police in meeting the needs of victims of crime and other tragic circumstances. Services offered are free of charge as they are an extension of the services offered by the police and other emergency service personnel.
Our Mission:
To assist victims of crime or tragedy by providing emotional support, information, and referrals in partnership with emergency and community service providers.
Objective:
- Support for victims of crime or tragedy
- Confidential, compassionate support in the immediate aftermath of a crisis
- Support and advocacy for victims, families, and witnesses of trauma, accidents, violent crimes and disasters.
- Crisis and disaster response teams
- Information on trauma reactions
- Referrals to other community supports
- Crime prevention strategies
- Information on investigation and judicial processes
- Public education on trauma and victims’ issues
- Self referrals accepted; arrange home visit/assessment
Eligibility:
Victims of crime or tragedy (victims, witnesses, survivors and the bereaved)
